 Copper Canyon by Train

Spent a week in the Copper Canyon. Left the RV in a small town called El Fuerte and took the 7 hour train to Creel.

The nights were cold in Creel, we had a cozy hotel with fireplace however. Visited a Tarahumara Indian village, some natural sites including some waterfall hikes and also visited some area missions. The area was beautiful, pine forests and rock formations. We spent too much time there, couldn't leave...

Happy to see our RV was intact when we returned to El Fuerte.

Tips

  • If you are planning to take the Copper Canyon train and are in an RV you might consider parking in El Fuerte rather than Los Mochis. El Fuerte takes an hour plus off the train ride and you miss the most boring section. The downside is less RVs stay in El Fuerte so the security may be questionable. However our RV was fine for a week.
