The Conference
It was a 4-day conference that I attended wherein the first 2 days included keynote presentations and the last 2 days were more on meetings with delegates who are representatives of their corresponding organizations. It was my first time to speak with our clients vis-a-vis. I learned a lot and developed relationships creating ties and friendship. The farewell party was a whole lot of fun and everyone was just making the most of the conference's last night.Tips:- attend presentations that will be useful for you and the company you represent.- be prepared and be confident.
Manchester
I spent 5 days in Manchester and it is a beautiful place; from the trees to the building architecture. It is amazing how most of the establishments are kept in its original architecture despite the height of modernization.Climate is very much different from the Philippines and I was literally chilling; I had to buy myself a coat. People are warm and friendly so don't hesitate to ask anyone should you need directions..I got to watch a football game between Manchester United and Wolverhampton. At last, I get to see live the real deal with people watching a football game. Everyone just loves the game and the crowd just goes wild which, I think, is very cool.
London
London, England's capital, full of things to do and see. London is a big and busy place and the most important thing you should know would be how to read the Underground London Tube Map. I secured myself the latest map and everything pretty much went smoothly except for few minor glitches along the way.I visited the British Museum and it is definitely a must-see. Admission is free and there is so much to see and learn.
Oxford
I visited Oxford while staying in Bedford which is an hour drive. Oxford is an amazing, amazing place with buildings dated back 1200's. I even saw the school building used as Hogwarts for Harry Potter. In Oxford, I visited the oldest University, the University of Oxford and I was wowed by how old and beautiful the buildings and pathways are.General
Tips:
* Secure maps wherever you go and learn how to read them.
* Go for Oyster Travel cards for convenience. They keep you from those long lines over the ticket counters.
* Give yourself time to go around and visit the main attractions. Also, try every mode of transportation - train, bus, tube, and cab. However, I would recommend walking. =)
* Try out their dishes; this way, you can get a good grasp of their culture.
* Always apply moisturizers as the climate will dry your skin.
Main Differences:
* They rarely use spoon for eating. They use fork & knife.
* French Fries are called chips. American Chips are then called crisps.
* Distance is described by Miles.
* Right-hand driving.
* No rice. =)
